buildings insurance? ?

we have just had a fire in kitchen, luckily it wasn’t toooooo bad, bad enough, but no-one was hurt and it is mainly smoke damage .. but we have just discovered that our contents insurance is not valid!!! (yes i know!!!!! we thought we where on direct debit!!!!) luckily our buildings insurance is fine ..looking through we seem to be covered for decoration, and built in apliances .. just wondering if the washing machine, tumble dryer, and oven are classed as ‘built in’ or are they contents??? or actually more importantly … what do insurance companies class them as? (i class them as built in :) !!)

can anyone clarify please?
thanks
no colin,

if they had just needed a good cleaning i wouldn’t be worried, they need replacing. wires have been burnt through and metal melted .

If you could pick your house up and shake it, everything that moves is contents – including capets (wood/laminate is buildings as it is fixed) Oven maybe covered if it is built into the units. Hope that helps.

Remember when the week of the 14th April
